The main house was built as a Tudor mansion but has undergone many renovations over time. However It still has medieval charm which has been featured in several recent movies. The Duchess was partially filmed here and is the story of Georgiana Spencer, Duchess of Devonshire who wed the Duke of Devonshire in 1774.
